Video - "At Two Fronts: The Story of Reproductive Health in Emergencies."

Created by our colleagues at the Raise Initiative, this short film takes us on a compelling journey to discover what women experience in crisis — loss of homes and livelihoods, increased insecurity and violence, and reproductive health care that often falls short of what they deserve.

Washington DC Film Screening and Visit by Astarte Local Partner to Highlight Reproductive Health Needs in Crises

Join us Thursday, June 3rd from 6-8pm at the Landmark E Street Theatre for a screening of Grace Under Fire, a powerful and inspiring documentary focused on promoting and improving access to lifesaving reproductive health care in war-torn eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). photo of women in a workshop

The f ilm will be followed by discussion with Dr. Grace Kodindo, the film's protagonist, and Clarence Massaquoi, an Astarte local partner in Liberia.

These school girls in Sierra Leone have survived a decade of civil war. Yet, they are again at risk in a country where 1 in 8 women die during pregnancy or childbirth and where more than 1 in 5 adolescent girls give birth each year. Adolescents have largely been neglected, especially in humanitarian response and the provision of reproductive health.
